Salt & Honey, a beautifully-written debut novel set in southern Africa during Apartheid, has been selected by popular book-group information and advice website www.bookgroup.info as their ‘Book of the Month’ for June.

Salt & Honey, by Zambia-born white author Candi Miller, offers the reader a rare and unique glimpse into an endangered culture and, since its publication by Legend Press last July, has received great acclaim, including being promoted by Waterstone’s, placed in Heat’s Top 10 Books and has so far sold into seven editions worldwide. Miller wrote the epic and moving story following ten-years of research including an expedition to the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa where she temporarily lived with one of the San tribes.

The Bookgroup Info website describes Salt & Honey in its review as 'a heartfelt novel that is beautifully written and deals sensitively with big themes' also saying, in an exclusive interview with the author, Candi, that the book is 'wonderful' and that 'the sense of place is very strong'.

Bookgroup Info is the leading independent website providing information for and about book groups. Run by Clare Chandler and Irene Haynes, they have created a 'one-stop shop' for reading groups where readers can get ideas, advice and information and also a direct link to buy the recommended books.

Legend Press Publishing Executive Emma Howard said: “We’ve always thought that Salt & Honey is the perfect novel for book-group meetings as there are so many fascinating strands to it that create lively and thoughtful discussion points. We’re delighted that Bookgroup Info have selected it as 'Book of the Month’ and hope that soon book groups throughout the country will be enjoying this brilliant and moving novel.”
