The young flight search engine Momondo.com, has recently sold a part of Momondo Denmark and a small part of Momondo.com to the largest news- and media-corporation in Denmark TV 2 (www.tv2.dk). With television broadcasting on more than five channels, a radio channel, book publishing and an already extensive web activity, TV 2’s goal is now to build the largest travel community in Denmark, with editorial content, city guides and booking functionalities.

The team behind Momondo has developed a fantastic technology and a search engine with the most comprehensive coverage on low-budget agencies in the world. Such a search engine is the cornerstone in a travel-site looking to be the best, says CEO in TV 2, Per Mikael Jensen.

www.momondo.com is one of the recently started meta-search engines for flight tickets, but Momondo has quickly proven that their technology is among the world’s best; reviewed and recommended in several newspapers magazines and blogs all over the world among them, The Guardian, L.A. Times and The Times, the Danish site is rapidly growing in recognition and traffic.

Making the travel industry more transparent is our primary goal, says Jens Willumsen chairman of the board, and former Vicepresident SAS DK.

Momondo doesn´t sell tickets, but simply passes the visitor onto the travel agencies sites. Therefore, the ambition is not to sell anything, but to inform people on the cheapest tickets available.

Founder-CEO Thorvald Stigsen has been working on software-solutions for the travel industry since 1992, and on September 1st 2006 he, along with a small group of programmers and a few students, launched Momondo.com. With the new boost of media-stamina from TV 2, they’re ready to take on the challenge of market transparency under the sounding slogan:

“Don’t spend it on the flight - splash it on nights”.
