Synergy Spa Announces Two New Innovative Massage Services

Synergy Spa is bringing to the Triangle area for the first time two new innovative massage services, Ashiatsu and Bamboo massage. Ashiatsu massage (ashi means foot and atsu means pressure) is an ancient form of bodywork brought to us by Buddhist monks. The therapist supports themselves with wooden bars suspended from the ceiling while applying different foot strokes along the body. Using the pressure of the therapist's feet on strategic points along the back and spine, a push-pull-pumping affect is created on the soft tissue that surrounds the muscles and inter-vertebral disc space. Ashiatsu combines the best elements of traditional Thai massage, barefoot Shiatsu massage from Japan and Keralite massage from southern India.

Bamboo massage promotes circulation, sensory nerve stimulation and lymphatic drainage as well as a deep sense of relaxation. During the treatment bamboo stocks steamed in essential oils are massaged into the body using a combination of rolling, sliding, kneading, and tapping to relieve and renew stressed muscles. This exotic treatment is not only relaxing but is also very therapeutic as the massage therapist can customize the depth of the clients desired massage to suite their own personal needs.

Synergy Spa owner, Anna Porrazzo stated: "We are so excited to be the first Spa in the triangle to offer both Bamboo and Ashiatsu Massage. Bamboo massage is incredibly popular in Europe as an alternative to Hot Stone Massage as it is extremely relaxing and the aroma of the steamed Bamboo is wonderful. I was first introduced to Ashiatsu Massage while traveling in Asia as a Skin Care consultant. I fell in love with it as it truly is one of the most amazing ways to receive a safe, effective deep tissue massage.

When we decided to offer Ashiatsu we wanted our therapist to learn from the very best. We now currently have two therapists who have been trained under Ruth Hardee, the leading authority and practioner of Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy. Through Hardee's extensive research this massage modality is now a well-documented, effective, non-surgical technique for the treatment of chronic lower back and neck pain, and is recognized as such by the American Medical Association. Everyone at the Synergy Spa is passionate about what they do and we are constantly searching for innovative and result oriented treatments".
