THE WEATHER CHANNEL INTERACTIVE DELIVERS FREE, CUSTOMIZABLE WEATHER ALERTS

ATLANTA, June 14, 2007 – The Weather Channel Interactive, Inc. (TWCI), today announced the launch of The Weather Channel Alerts, a free service that delivers immediate, localized weather updates via SMS/text messaging and e-mail. The free service allows consumers to set their location and choose which weather conditions to receive alerts for — including severe weather, rain, snow, pollen or extreme temperatures. The service is available now at www.weather.com/alerts.

As the hurricane and tropical weather season approaches, consumers are increasingly turning towards technology to stay ahead of the quickly changing conditions. In fact, extreme weather conditions in early 2007 brought record visitors to weather.com, with more than 82.5 million visitors (February 13, 2007) looking to stay on top of winter storms.

The Weather Channel Alerts makes it easier than ever for individuals in severe weather-prone regions, or anywhere, to control when and where valuable, relevant weather information is delivered to them. The service enables individuals to keep informed and prepared for any weather situation even when they are nowhere near a television or radio. In addition, consumers can choose to receive daily weather forecasts and current conditions to help with planning day-to-day activities including travel.

“Consumers look to us as a trusted source of weather information and increasingly want that information delivered to them instead of having to search it out,” said Monisha Longacre, director of operations and general manager of consumer software for The Weather Channel Interactive. “The launch of The Weather Channel Alerts lets consumers decide when and how they get their weather data no matter where they are.”

Consumers can sign up for The Weather Channel Alerts at www.weather.com/alerts. In addition, for users who prefer to receive voice alerts, The Weather Channel offers Notify!, a premium subscription service.
