Stop Online Fraud & Identity Theft

Dallas Texas: Biometric Signature ID announces the release of their patent pending software solutions to restrict access to only registered users for Internet accounts and personal PC's.

Company CEO and Founder Mr. Jeff Maynard stated that "we are pleased to launch our line of BioSig-ID products to combat the growing problem of identity theft and misuse of personal information" Mr. Maynard also stated that "Many people are not aware that the "in-ability to restrict access" to your PC and important Online accounts like bank accounts, credit card transactions and more has resulted in over $50B in fraud and retail losses according to the CTC. Now we have a solution that acts as a steel door to restrict access to only registered users who can "authenticate" themselves using the unique way they sign/draw their signature using their mouse.

The company brief included the following statements: Tokens, PINS and passwords, bingo cards, IP addresses, profiling, MAC addresses are all security strategies that have been used to identify an individual. However these strategies are not successful in restricting access to online accounts to authorized users only. They simply do not verify the real person, so anyone can be given access if they have knowledge of another person's passwords or token.

This has been the subject of many new laws and regulations to find a solution that actually authenticates a person’s identity. Finger prints, iris scan and other static biometrics measure the unique characteristics of an individual to positively identify who they are. They have been useful but because they require costly hardware they are not practical for everyday use.

Enter the era of the dynamic biometrics comprised of voice, keyboard and signature/gestures. These "behavioral" based characteristics are unique to each individual. However, voice authentication has limitations that have not been overcome, while keyboard biometrics which capture the "dwell" time it takes a user to type from key to key suffers from credibility issues limiting its use. (This has not stopped one company from obtaining over 600,00 new users last year and obtaining significant venture capital funding in spite of its obvious limitations)

Biometric Signature ID has released its new technology products called BioSig-ID after years of research and development and patent submissions. The company has announced two installations during its' first month with more scheduled. The company believes they have developed the most robust and practical product in the emerging class of dynamic biometrics. Signature/gestures are the most natural to use, are legally binding, most valid (they capture 5 biometric indexes), is most intuitive to use and most psychologically acceptable. No special equipment is required beyond your mouse, stylus, or finger depending the equipment in use.

BioSig-ID offers two products- a web based product and a PC WinLogon product for the workstation. The technology creates a “steel door” in front of applications and the logon process. This steel door only opens to registered users who have successfully authenticated themselves using BioSig-ID. After authentication they are allowed to access their PC and other applications/web sites. The system is activated using only your mouse. Enrollment of your secret code consists of characters/shapes/initials, takes 2 minutes and is stored in binary code in a secure database. The database stores the signature profile and the activity log. The profile is then used to compare all subsequent signatures and if certain metrics match, the user is authenticated and allowed access. Authentication takes less than one minute. If someone takes your token, PINS passwords this is an unacceptable 100% loss. Conversely, if someone steals the database containing all your fingerprints your loss is not retrievable or fixable. BioSig-ID however, is easy to revoke (instant) and easy to replace (just re-enroll at administrator request).

BioSig-ID has been designed for the user who is sitting behind his desk, usually alone accessing his PC or Internet accounts. The company has created “invisible ink” which turns off your secret code to shoulder surfers. When they leave turn it back on and continue. The ability of someone obtaining another person's secret code using BioSig-ID is limited and even if someone does obtain it, its' nearly impossible to re-produce because you would have to match a users’ speed, direction length, height and more to be authenticated. Compare this to the 100% error rate for passwords or tokens.

To make the solution even more flexible and secure, the company has added patent pending technology called Point and Click Image technology. This unique solution creates an alternative access and is used to re-set the BioSig-ID signature profile if necessary, thus avoiding un-necessary help desk calls. BioSig-ID can be used to replace/augment PINS and passwords, tokens, expensive static biometrics, profiles and other security methods with a low cost, practical, secure method to positively ID the user.
