New York/Stuttgart - Thieme Publishers is pleased to announce that the “Thieme Atlas of Anatomy Neck and Internal Organs” is the recipient of a 2007 Benjamin Franklin Award in the "Professional/Technical" category. The landmark book in the award-winning “Thieme Atlas of Anatomy” series is a remarkable guide to human anatomy. The award is the second for the “Thieme Atlas of Anatomy” series. Last year, “Thieme Atlas of Anatomy: General Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System” won in the same category.

The Benjamin Franklin Awards takes its name from the influential publisher and printer. With the award, the Independent Book Publishers Association (PMA) recognizes excellence in independent publishing. Publications are grouped according to genre, and then judged, based on editorial and design, by top practitioners in each field. The organization presented the trophy during the gala awards ceremony on the final evening of the Publishing University at the Park Central Hotel in Manhattan.

The atlas features over 950 beautifully detailed illustrations exclusively created for “Neck and Internal Organs.” Diagrams used in conjunction with drawings expertly depict anatomical and clinical concepts. The groundbreaking guide presents anatomical information with exceptional clarity.

Consulting editors for this edition are Lawrence M. Ross, M.D., Ph.D., University of Texas-Houston Medical School, and Edward Lamperti, Ph.D., Boston University Medical School. Dr. Ross and Dr. Lamperti’s work reflects pedagogical approaches in anatomy programs in North America and is based on the exquisite work of the original authors, Michael Schuenke, M.D., Ph.D., Erik Schulte, M.D., and Udo Schumacher, M.D., as well as the illustrators, Markus M.Voll and Karl H. Wesker.
