LaxPower Crowns High School Girls’ Lacrosse National Champion for 2007

(PRLEAP.COM) Camillus, NY, June 25, 2007 - West Genesee High School, which went 24-0 and won the New York State Class A title New York, is the LaxPower.com high school girls’ national champion for 2007. West Genesee, lead by Coach Bob Elmer, finished in first place both in the computer ratings and in the coaches’ poll, garnering 27 of the 28 first-place votes.

LaxPower.com, the leading authority on lacrosse team performance ratings, announced the results of its National Coaches/Computer Ratings for high school girls’ lacrosse for the recently completed 2007 spring season. West Islip High School, which went 22-1 and won the New York State Class A title, was named the LaxPower.com high school boys’ national champion for 2007 last week.

Rounding out the top five girls’ programs in the country for 2007 are four perennial powers:

#2: St. Stephen’s & Agnes, Virginia (24-1) Coach Kathy Jenkins — VIS I champion
#3: Mt. Hebron, Maryland (22-1) Coach Kuhl-McCelland — Maryland (3A-2A) champion
#4: McDonogh, Maryland (18-2) Coach Chris Robinson
#5: Severna Park, Maryland (21-1) Coach Carin Peterson— Maryland (4A-3A) champion

The final rankings used LaxPower’s CCR formula, combining the LaxPower.com national computer rankings with the LaxPower.com national coaches’ poll. The computer ratings used for the rankings are based on over 14,000 scores for more than 2,000 high school teams. The poll is a product of votes by 28 high school coaches from around the country. Each of these factors represents 50% of the final tallied results.
