Ambient Electronica Artist Releases Two Song Meditative Podcast

Ambient and Electronica artist and podcaster Mark Rushton has recently released a new MP3-based podcast of original music. The podcast contains two pieces of music created in June 2007 and can be found at podcast.markrushton.com. The podcast itself is 11 minutes and 30 seconds long and can be found on iTunes, Yahoo Podcasts, and other major podcast search engines.

Rushton describes the latest two tracks as "linear music" - a sort of meditative ostinato with some slight variations because of mixing and arrangement.

The first track lasts just over 5 minutes long and is recognizable by the flowing electronic trill coupled with a swirling undercurrent of arpeggios.

The second track is about 4 and a half minutes long. It's much slower-paced and features reverbed-out arpeggios punctuated by bass blurb rhythms.

The purpose of the music is to allow the listener to "zone out" and get into a meditative flow for relaxation therapy or as background music while performing regular tasks on a computer. Rushton also envisions his music used as "life soundtrack" music for people walking around with portable music devices like the Apple iPod and Microsoft's Zune.

Rushton's podcasts have been downloaded over 100,000 times by a worldwide audience.

Rushton uses a variety of sites to promote his music. He sells CDs through CDBaby, CafePress, BuyIowaArt.com, Amazon.com, and through mail-order. Downloads of his albums can be purchased from over 50 different online retailers, such as iTunes, Rhapsody, and eMusic. Free MP3s are made available on his web site, markrushton.com. Rushton also utilizes MySpace, Lastfm.com, AcidPlanet.com, Download.com, and Soundclick.com for additional promotion. His music is also used in the background and segues for the short story and literary fiction podcast at Boundoff.com.
