AMERICAN SENSOR TECHNOLOGIE's Founders Awarded Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Technology Innovation

June 28, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Based out of New Jersey, AST designs, manufactures and markets state-of-the-art, high performance MEMS-based pressure sensors, transducers and transmitters. In addition, Macro Sensors, a subsidiary of AST, manufactures position sensors commonly known as LVDT’s. This is the third consecutive year the founders were recognized by Ernst & Young as leading Entrepreneurs. In both 2005 and 2006, they were acknowledged as finalists in Ernst & Young’s Manufacturing sector of the program.

Incorporated in 1997, AST was founded when its three entrepreneurs brought together an ideal set of skills, allowing for a complete, comprehensive management team. Richard Tasker (President and CEO) led the charge for new product developments and manufacturing, while Michael Eldredge (Executive VP and COO/CFO) worked to establish business management along with AST’s financial organization. Additionally, Karmjit Sidhu (VP of Business Development) has diligently strived to advance, as well as implement new sales and marketing strategies for their company. Collectively the owners bring more than 80 years of industry experience, assuring the company’s ability to manage fast-paced business growth, while sustaining frequent introductions of new technologies and products.

When asked to comment, the founders collectively stated, “we are very honored to be recognized for this business achievement and, in light of this award, we would be remiss if we did not state that AST’s success is also the result of our dedicated management team and all our employees.”

Ernst & Young, LLP is a distinguished organization that provides a range of business services, including accounting and auditing, tax reporting and operations, tax advisory, business risk services, technology and security risk services, transaction advisory and human capital services.

“Celebrating entrepreneurs and the businesses they build and grow has been a priority for Ernst & Young for more than two decades. The Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes pioneers and innovators who excel at what they do and proudly states this as the most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are honored with excellence for their vision, innovation, courage and leadership. These are the businesses that influence the way we live, the products and services we depend on, and the economic vibrancy of our local communities and global markets.”

About AST
AST manufacture state-of-the-art, MEMS-based pressure sensors, transducers, and transmitters that offer the best price-performance ratio in the industry. Common applications of AST sensor products are in industrial OEM, hydraulic systems, fuel cells, medical gases, HVAC/R, refrigeration (ammonia, Freon, CO2), oil & gas exploration and production, and off-road vehicles. By combining exotic metals and AST’s exclusive, proprietary Krystal Bond™ Technology (an advanced process in which inorganic materials are molecularly diffused onto a metallic surface in the presence of certain gases), AST can produce high-performance strain gauge pressure sensors that support the specialized needs of key niche markets. Many AST products are UL listed as intrinsically safe and certified for explosion-proof required environments. Some of the world’s most highly respected industrial Fortune 500 corporations have tested and now use AST products in a wide range of critical and harsh environments.
