Mouser Electronics Expands 3M™ Product Portfolio With New Mini Serial Attached SCSI (mini-SAS) Connector Solutions

Mouser Electronics, Inc., known for its rapid introduction of the newest products, today announced inventory on the shelf of the new 3M™ Mini Serial Attached SCSI Connectors (mini-SAS). 3M Electronics Solutions Division is a leading supplier of numerous technologies and provides a wide range of products and solutions for the electronics marketplace.

Next-generation designs enabling high-speed data transmission can be supported with the new 3M™ mini Serial Attached SCSI connectors. The RoHS compliant mini-SAS devices support data transmission rates of six Gbps in server and storage applications, doubling the capacity of first-generation SAS connectors.

The 3M mini-SAS interconnects ensure signal integrity to protect against data loss and significantly reduces the connector size for storage systems currently using SAS 4-lane. The 0.8mm pitch board mount connector provides increased I/O density with greater channel capabilities and requires less space on printed circuit boards.

The mini-SAS system provides board designers with a variety of options, including three different tail lengths on the through-hole shields, kinked tails, and SMT options. The connectors are offered in vertical- and right-angle versions for internal board mount uses and a right-angle design for external board-mount applications.

These connectors conform to the SFF 8086, 8087, and 8088 standards which support the aggregation and cabling of SAS signals into high-speed, four-lane architecture, providing both internal and external configurations. Internal connectors use 36 positions, while external connectors use 26 positions. The connectors are all SMT, with internal shield cages available in through-hole, kinked tails for through-hole, and SMT options.
