SHAWNEE, KANSAS — Perceptive Software, Inc., announced that Gannon University is using ImageNow® integrated document management, document imaging and workflow solutions to enhance student records processes.

Gannon University is a Catholic, Diocesan institution with more than 3,200 full- and part-time students. The university offers 56 undergraduate, nine professional and 17 graduate programs and is ranked in the top tier of the Northern Universities-Master's category in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges 2005" list.

Gannon's registrar's office moved to a space that would not accommodate the university's expansive student records filing system. Gannon searched for an electronic document management application that would solve storage problems and process student records efficiently. After seeing a product demonstration, Gannon administrators selected ImageNow.

"ImageNow's impact was immediate," said David Fabian, special assistant to the president and director of public relations and communications. "With ImageNow, we no longer need to file individual papers in student folders, pull those folders to look for documents, or worry about misfiled papers."

Patented ImageNow technology facilitated seamless integration with Datatel Colleague® and Gannon's other applications. A single click retrieves scanned or imported documents, which are linked to the institution's host systems. Instead of searching through multiple file cabinets, pulling paper records and taking them to an associate for review, Gannon employees now send digital documents via e-mail using ImageNow.

"ImageNow is powerful and learning how to use it is simple," Fabian said. "Every office that uses ImageNow is amazed by the efficiencies it provides."

Gannon's staff members also manage current student records and store 80 years of transcripts safely with ImageNow. Before deployment, the university retained paper copies of students' academic records.

Now, these transcripts are scanned into the secure ImageNow repository, providing a reliable backup of irreplaceable documents. ImageNow security features, such as assignable user privileges, help Gannon maintain the integrity of these records.

"ImageNow helps us eliminate security risks, since only authorized personnel are allowed to view confidential information," Fabian said. "This enables us to protect the privacy of our students."

Gannon plans to use ImageNow in the admissions office. Workflow features like automatic document routing will ensure that applications, scholarship information, transcripts and all other documents are processed promptly.

"ImageNow saves us many hours of work," Fabian said. "Our students also benefit from the faster service that ImageNow enables. ImageNow benefits the entire campus community."
