Bangalore, India, June 29, 2007 - Vaatsalya Healthcare today announced the creation of a new scholarship program - 'JumpStart" to address the growing shortage of clinical research professionals in India. The Vaatsalya JumpStart Scholarship is designed to increase the number of clinical research professionals needed to expand the capacity in Indian Clinical Trials Industry and Academia.

"All efforts to address the tremendous opportunity that exists for Clinical Trials in India will fail unless we focus on increasing the supply of trained professionals needed to maintain international quality and standards." said Vaatsalya President Ashwin Naik.

The Vaatsalya "JumpStart" Scholarship program was created to help increase the pool of clinical research professionals needed to help bridge the acute gap at organisations nationwide. Students enrolled in Advanced Diploma in Clinical Trials Management and Regulatory Affairs will be eligible to apply for scholarship funding. Three scholarships will be awarded per batch and selection will be based on written examination and interviews.

"This innovative professional development program is quite timely given the large need for clinical research professionals in India, expected over the next 10 years" added Mr. Nagendrappa MH, Head of Vaatsalya Clinical Research Academy. "These scholarships will enable deserving professionals to complete clinical trials training programs and will succeed in bringing better trained professionals into the profession. Vaatsalya hopes this program will serve as a model for other organisation to follow."

"Vaatsalya is proud to be part of this effort to provide assistance for students who are dedicating their careers to upholding standards and quality in the clinical trials industry," said Rocky Philip, Head, Marketing, Vaatsalya. "We are pleased to be able to offer our resources to address the critical needs within the clinical trials industry."

Complete scholarship information, including award criteria and an application for the current batch, is available at the Vaatsalya Clinical Research Academy with an application deadline of July 7th, 2007. Finalists will be chosen by a selection committee and notified by mid-July if their application was selected.
