AviIT’s eMan Technology proven at Monarch

June 30, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
AviIT, the aviation technology solutions company, today publicly revealed the significant cost and efficiency benefits being delivered to Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd (MAEL) as a result of AviIT’s eMan implementation.

eMan is an electronic document management solution that lets all the maintenance and repair manuals required to service an aircraft be immediately accessible to engineers as they work on an aircraft - whether in the main hangers or remotely from line maintenance stations without having to physically leave the floor to visit a reference library.

MAEL has now been successfully using eMan for a number of years to alleviate the document management issues arising from the switch to electronic format repair and maintenance updates from aircraft manufacturers. Since implementation the following benefits have been recorded:
• significant reduction of costs for managing information – the Luton technical library is now one seventh of its former size and the Manchester technical library has also been minimised.
• significant productivity gains – engineers now rarely have to leave the hangar floor to visit the library.

Neil Humphreys, MAEL’s Maintenance Group Leader commented:
“Before eMan was introduced, the engineers used to spend a lot of time in the library, away from the shop floor. In the past, at least one person used to have to visit the library once a day for something. Now it’s probably just once a month. eMan has also delivered big time savings. We can update and upload new manuals locally instead of having to go out and install revisions on each PC. This alone used to take about 20 days per month on sites.”

David Brown, CEO of AviIT, added:
“We are delighted by the improved productivity and cost savings being experienced by Monarch as a result of introducing eMan. We have had an excellent working relationship with Monarch over the years and are confident we will be able to offer enhancements to the system that will provide additional measurable benefits”.

MAEL is one of Europe’s largest independent aircraft and maintenance repair organisations, supporting Monarch’s own fleet of Airbus and Boeing Aircraft as well as providing third party maintenance to other airline operations.
