Englewood Cliffs, NJ- (July 2007) – New Jersey native Chelsea Palermo is only 21 years old, but she is already a seasoned performer and interpreter. After opening for jazz legend, Gato Barbieri in February, the local starlet will be performing songs from her forthcoming debut studio recording, “All About Love,” at The River’s Edge Café in Red Bank New Jersey: Friday, July 13th at 8P.M . Palermo will be joined by trumpet virtuoso, Warren Vache`. The legendary musician, who has performed on over 35 albums, is also a guest artist on Palermo’s upcoming debut album. The two collaborated on several tracks including “La Vie En Rose,” “Fine and Mellow,” “Almost like Being in Love,” and “Lemon Drop.” With Vache`’s musical expertise and Chelsea Palermo’s fresh, energetic charisma and jaw-dropping talent, it is sure to be an unforgettable performance.

Even as a child Palermo made her voice heard, and has since become a vocal veteran. When Chelsea was only 12 years old, she had already been singing for nine years, but she chose to make the critical switch to jazz, seeking to emulate her idols, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughn. “When I was a kid, I was drawn to the energy of pop music and R&B—and I always will be,” Chelsea said recently, “However, I also appreciated the sophistication and nuance of jazz—and I always wished I could share that with my friends.” Today, Chelsea is hoping to do just that: to use her fresh, energetic take on the standards to help bring jazz to a whole new generation.

In 2000 Palermo moved south from Bergen County to attend The Red Bank Regional High School Visual and Performing Arts Academy. While there, she was one of eight vocalists in the state to be chosen for the Jazz for Teens program at the NJ Performing Arts Center. Additionally, she was a member of the New Jersey Honors Jazz Choir and the All-State Opera Company. She is in good company, her vocal coach has also trained Diane Reeves and Janet Jackson.

Earlier this past winter, on January 29, Chelsea performed for a national radio audience on the Joey Reynolds Show, broadcast on WOR in New York. Additionally, she has taken the stage at the PNC Bank Arts Center, bergenPAC in Englewood, The Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, and Bruce Springsteen’s music venue, The Stone Pony. For the past two years, Chelsea has sung at Drumthwacket, the New Jersey Governor’s Mansion at the annual, statewide D.A.R.E. fundraiser. She also lent her voice to last year’s Power of Pink cancer fundraiser, which featured Lynn Redgrave as the evening’s emcee.

Palermo is currently working on her first commercial release entitled, ALL ABOUT LOVE which will be available this summer. Her forthcoming release is being put out by a major record company, and features tracks such as “If I Give You My Love,” “La Vie En Rose,” and “Fine and Mellow.” The album also features special guests Warren Vaché on trumpet and Latin percussionist Luisito Quintero. Today, Palermo can be spotted singing the National Anthem at professional sporting events around the state and has performed regularly at the Red Bank Jazz Festival.
