Announcing Summer Shorts 2007 Film and Video Competition

July 05, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
The Summer Shorts 2007 competition from StudentFilmmakers.com (http://www.studentfilmmakers.com/) will begin July 1. Open to all film and video makers, entries will be accepted until September 30, 2007 at 5 pm EDT. The competition is free to enter; all genres and multiple submissions are welcome. All eligible entries will be showcased online and in future screenings.

The purpose of the contest is to inspire filmmakers and provide new opportunities to filmmakers of varying experience and background, gaining them exposure and recognition. Participants will see how audiences respond to their works, and they will also have an opportunity to view and provide feedback to other contestants’ works.

“I really enjoy these contests each year. The competition acts as a platform for filmmakers, to share their ideas and films, and learn from other filmmakers. I watch all of the films online and I am continually shocked and amazed by the talent, especially from younger filmmakers,” says Kim E. Welch, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of StudentFilmmakers Magazine and Director of StudentFilmmakers.com.

All entries must be five minutes or less in length, and 85 megabytes or less in size. Films that do not meet the guidelines will not be accepted. Submission requirements, rules, and guidelines can be found at http://www.studentfilmmakers.com/summershorts/rules.shtml.

Summer Shorts 2007 is sponsored by Sony, Fuji Film, OurStage, Avid, and Lowel. For additional sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kim Welch at (212) 255-7190, or visit http://www.studentfilmmakers.com/contact.shtml.

Contest winners will all receive a feature write-up in StudentFilmmakers Magazine, in addition to other prizes from Sony, Fuji Film, OurStage, Avid, and Lowel. The contest continues the online filmmaking community’s exchange of ideas related to moviemaking, storytelling, technique, technologies and learning from others’ works, as well as deriving inspiration from one another.
