The Anderson Public Library in Anderson, Indiana is having the next Local Authors event, where the community can meet with a local author.

The event will occur on Thursday, July 12; 2-4 pm, on the third floor of the Anderson Public Library, and will feature Anderson resident Elmore Hammes, who has released his first novel, a middle grade fantasy, The Holmes & Watson Mysterious Events & Objects Consortium: The Case of the Witch's Talisman. He has previously had a short story published in the Fall 2006 issue of the literary journal The First Line.

The novel is about Kevin and Ginny, who enjoy exploring the world around them. Sometimes these explorations get the two twelve year olds into trouble. This is one of those times. After they discover a strange metal object, animals in the area start disappearing. The object is the enchanted talisman of the Witch of Heitzenberg, and they have accidentally freed her from banishment. The evil Witch wants to return to power. Kevin and Ginny must find out she is behind the disappearances, and then come up with a way to stop her. The Witch, of course, will not make that easy.

It will take all their ingenuity and courage to succeed in unraveling the Case of the Witch's Talisman!

An engrossing mystery with a positive moral undertone, the author hopes readers of such varied stories as Nancy Drew, Lemony Snicket and Harry Potter will enjoy this novel.
