CGI and Sherlock Antitheft partnership adds valuable vehicle identification information to AutoPlus database

July 06, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
CGI Group Inc. (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB) and Sherlock Antitheft Marking inc. today announce a partnership that will add Sherlock’s vehicle identification data to CGI's AutoPlus suite of products and services.

AutoPlus - Canada's most comprehensive personal auto insurance database - contains more than 30 million policies from over 70 companies. This consumer database is accessed by approximately 8,000 insurance brokers and agents more than two million times per year.

Sherlock‘s vehicle identification process uses sandblasting and electronic engraving to mark 52 known and confidential locations on an automobile. This identification of the vehicle (cross referenced with the Vehicle Identification Number) is kept in a database that is exclusively accessed by police, public authorities, insurance companies and going forward, the AutoPlus database.

"Including our intensive antitheft marking data in CGI's AutoPlus suite of products will assist our mutual clients to confirm the identity of the vehicle they insure plus help prevent vehicle theft and fraud in Canada," says Gerry Garand, Business Development Manager (Ontario), Sherlock Antitheft Marking inc.

“This initiative demonstrates CGI’s ongoing commitment to improve our services,” says Wayne Beck, Vice-President, Consulting Services, CGI. “Indicating that the vehicle has been ‘marked’ by Sherlock will maximize the value of both CGI’s and Sherlock’s products for clients.

“This is an important next step in CGI’s ongoing strategy to enhance the overall value proposition of the AutoPlus Service,” adds Wayne Beck.
