Nightlife impresario Amy Sacco and Fashion Commentator Mary Alice Stephenson are event chairs, and actors Sean Penn, Liv Tyler and Naomi Watts have been named Honorary Chairs. “I have been on the Board of Free Arts for over six years and the organization is very dear to me. This event is an opportunity for New York's most talented and fabulous to come out in support of a much needed cause,” says Sacco.

The event will feature a live auction of large-scale Polaroid prints. Free Arts NYC has enlisted 15 leading contemporary artists to create these one-of-a-kind images specifically for this auction. Ross Bleckner, Chuck Close, Sante D’Orazio, Todd Eberle, Sylvie Fleury, Adam Fuss, Jenny Holzer, Gary Hume, Marilyn Minter, Julian Schnabel, Andres Serrano, William Wegman, Christopher Wool, and Lisa Yuskavage are among those who have lent their support, talent and time. “Because of the important work they do, Free Arts NYC has attracted an impressive group of artists to support their cause. The unique quality of the large-scale Polaroids enables artists working in different styles and media to create intriguing and valuable works,” says Simon de Pury, Chairman of Phillips de Pury & Co. and Free Arts NYC Board Member. Guests expected include 500 supporters from the art, fashion, business, and entertainment communities, as well as Free Arts Ambassadors Alan Cumming, Benicio del Toro, Whoopi Goldberg, Lauren Hutton, Karolina Kurkova, Royston Langdon, Iman and David Bowie, Eva Mendes, Connie Nielsen, Cynthia Rowley, Kimora Lee and Russell Simmons, and Timothy White.

The event raises critical funds for Free Arts NYC’s programs, which bring art and inspiration to at-risk children and families throughout New York City. “To have the artists conceive and create unique work for us reflects the creative spirit of our organization and the importance of our mission,” says Free Arts NYC Executive Director Liz Hopfan. Free Arts NYC trains volunteers to conduct arts mentoring programs in social services agencies. Through painting, photography, dance, sculpture, writing and other creative outlets, Free Arts volunteers help children and families express emotions, gain self-confidence, and develop positive methods of communication.

The event also benefits the WB11 Care for Kids Fund, with matching funds from The McCormick Tribune Foundation. The McCormack Tribune Foundation has granted more than $6.5 million to local non-profit organizations, making a difference in the lives of people throughout the New York area. All monies raised, for the WB11 Fund, and matching funds are returned to local charitable organizations. Tickets, from $150 to $10000 are available through www.freeartsnyc.org or call 212.974-9092.
