U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Grants Patent to “Shredder Lubrication Sheets”

(PRLEAP.COM) Salt Lake City, UT July 13, 2007 — The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted ButterCup Legacy LLC, a patent for shredder lubrication sheets, including those that are intended to help prolong the life of a paper shredder while lubricating a shredder in a no-mess, elegant manner.

Patent No. 7,166,561, was granted for the "Lubricant-carrying substrate for maintenance of paper shredders" in January 2007. Parties in the U.S. who are interested in selling “Shredder Lubrication Sheets” or manufacturers who are interested in entering the Shredder Accessories business with Shredder Lubrication Sheets can contact Mark Allen at ButterCup Legacy LLC for licensing information.

The paper shredder industry is nearly a half a billion dollar industry and growing rapidly. Most users of paper shredders are unaware that regular oiling of the cutting mechanism can increase longevity of their shredder and as a result many consumers do not oil their shredders sufficiently. This often results in premature failure of the paper shredder. Some consumers attempt to put too much paper through in one pass which is also problematic. Oiling the shredder regularly and using common sense while shredding will help consumers prolong the life of their paper shredder.

Although simple in function, the shredder lubrication sheets provide consumers a simple, safe and elegant manner in which to deliver lubrication to the cutting mechanism of a paper shredder. This new product removes the typical mess associated with oiling a shredder while providing essential lubrication to help extend the life of your shredder. For best results use a shredder lubrication sheet each time you empty the basket or at least once each week to keep the cutting mechanism in optimal shape.

“Once people learn about the Shredder Lubrication Sheets and see how easy they are to use, they want to try a sheet out on their own machine. Users of this product typically see and hear a difference in shredder performance and operation. Used regularly they can help overcome the challenges associated with heavy shredder use such as clogging. The patent is the culmination of several years of work and technical innovation”, according to Allen.

"Businesses are busy shredding important documents to help them comply with HIPAA and FACTA document destruction requirements. Regular use of these sheets is easy, fast, safe and makes economical sense", adds Allen.
