Auxiliary Partners with PaceButler Corp. to Raise Funds for New State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Center

Louisville, Ky., —- The St. Mary's HealthCare Auxiliary is currently raising funds which will be used to help build a women's diagnostic center at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, which will offer state-of-the-art digital mammography, ultrasound, bone densitronomy, stereotactic biopsy, and provide test results to patients before leaving the center.

One of many ways the Auxiliary is raising money for the center is through the collection of used and unwanted cell phones. The Auxiliary is collaborating with PaceButler, a corporation located in Edmond, Okla. and one of the country's leaders in cell phone recycling (http://www.pacebutler.com). The cell phones are paid for and recycled in a responsible manner, ensuring they do not end up in landfills. The Auxiliary is asking for the community’s help through their donations of used or unwanted cell phones, and because the Auxiliary is non-profit, all donations are tax-deductible.

With the growing use of cell phones in the U.S., some estimates show that increasing numbers of idle cell phones may reach as many as 500 million, most of which will end up in the trash, resulting in thousands of tons of waste and added toxins to landfills for years to come.

Through the simple donation of a used or unwanted cell phone to the Auxiliary, participants can help keep the environment clean, while helping the organization raise funds to support the Women’s Diagnostic Center.

All cell phone donations may be dropped off at the Volunteer Office located at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, 1850 Bluegrass Ave., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cell phones may also be dropped off at the hospital’s information desk any day of the week.
