SHAWN KELLY AND CARLOS BAENA OF ANIMATIONMENTOR.COM TO PRESENT AT THE //ADAPT 2007 CONFERENCE IN MONTREAL

(PRLEAP.COM) (Montreal, Canada) – Monday, July 19, 2007 – Today, Digital 04 Studios is pleased to announce additional speakers to the //ADAPT 2007 Conference schedule. Presenting in the 3D Masters Program are renowned artists and co-founders of the world leading online animation school, AnimationMentor.com’s Shawn Kelly and Carlos Baena. In addition, two more Special Feature Presentations are confirmed; The Evolution of Shrek presented by DreamWorks Animation SKG and for the first time ever, Creating a CG film presented by an impressive panel featuring Walt Disney Animation Studios - Carolyn Soper (VP Production), DreamWorks Animation SKG - Tim Johnson (Co-Director on the movie Over the Hedge) and Sony Pictures Imageworks - Lydia Bottegoni (Co-Producer on the movie Surf’s Up).

The //ADAPT 2007 Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Montreal from September 24th to September 28th, 2007. An estimated 2 500 digital artists from around the world are expected to attend the industry’s second annual creative event focused on inspiring and teaching advanced digital art production techniques for film, visual effects and videogame development. The program includes over 40 digital art masters, an Art Expo, a Theatre, a Job Fair and much more, soon to be announced.

Shawn Kelly and Carlos Baena launched AnimationMentor.com in 2004, along side President/C.E.O. Bobby Beck, with the desire to bridge the gap between companies and new recruits in the digital industry. In 2006, this online animation school was awarded the 21st Century Award, honoring ground-breaking organizations that change distance learning through new and innovative solutions, as well as the 2006 Best Practices in Programming Award Gold Level, from the U.S Distance Learning Awards (USDLA). With their participation in this year’s event, attendees will get a taste of what this online character animation school is all about.

Recommended for intermediate to advanced artists, the 3D Masters Program covers a wide range of topics which include advanced previz, rigging, texturing, animation, lighting and rendering techniques. The Special Feature Presentations are geared towards the reveal or making-of a major blockbuster film or AAA videogame released this year. About Shawn Kelly
Convinced that animation lovers everywhere should have access to the mentorship that made his career possible, Shawn launched AnimationMentor.com with Carlos and President/CEO Bobby Beck. He collaborates with Bobby and Carlos to chart the school’s overall direction, while working as a senior animator at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Shawn’s credits at the studio, which he joined in 1998, include Day After Tomorrow, War of the Worlds, Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith, The Incredible Hulk, Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones and AI: Artificial Intelligence. Most recently he was a lead animator on Transformers. Shawn has also taught at and designed curriculum for the Academy of Art University.

About Carlos Baena
Carlos’s talent secured him a position as an animator at San Rafael-based Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) in 2001, where he worked on such films as Jurassic Park 3, Men in Black 2 and Star Wars: Episode 2-Attack of the Clones. In 2002, Carlos left ILM for Pixar, where he has animated on Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille and the short film Boundin’. Carlos now balances his work at Pixar with his role at AnimationMentor.com, defining and shaping the school’s direction and overseeing promotional trailers, video advertising and content related to the school’s mascot Spike.
