Cardinal Solutions Recognized as Registered Education Provider by Project Management Institute

July 21, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Cardinal Solutions, a leading U.S. systems integrator, today announced that it has been recognized by Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.). As an R.E.P., Cardinal Solutions will be able to offer project management training to Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential holders for continuing education credit. The company’s customers will now be able to leverage their existing partner relationship with Cardinal to support the professional development efforts of their project management teams with local training and support from a trusted partner and recognized leader.

“The growth in PMI membership, and in the number of people looking to maintain or become certified PMP credential holders, continues to be phenomenal,” said Mike Price, manager of Accreditation Programs at PMI. “We are pleased that Cardinal Solutions has successfully met the rigorous requirements of PMI’s Registered Education Provider Program, and is now a member of our global network of approved training providers. Through the good work of organizations like Cardinal Solutions, the growing demand for qualified project managers can be met.”

PMI’s R.E.P. program was introduced in 1999 following the introduction of its new continuing education requirements to maintain PMP status. PMI realized that, as a result of the new requirements, thousands of PMP credential holders located throughout the world would need to find appropriate continuing education courses to earn the required 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every three years. The R.E.P. program allows participants to register their educational activities with PMI, while agreeing to abide by PMI specified program criteria, including rigorous quality assurance, auditing and reviews processes.

“Cardinal continues to develop and provide top notch professional project management consultants,” said Tom Hoffmann, practice manager, project services for Cardinal Solutions. “Gaining this recognition and certification from PMI will allow us to expand the level of partnership and professional service and training we offer to our customers, while helping us to support the professional and career development aspirations of our consultants.”

Hoffman added, “Many of our clients have a goal for the development of top notch professional project management within their organizations, and many are looking for a local trusted partner to provide leadership, training and services to further enable the professional development of their project management teams. Receiving the recognition from PMI helps to reinforce our expertise as leader in the industry, and provides our customers one more reason to turn to Cardinal Solutions. We are currently working with a number of our large clients in the Cincinnati, Columbus and Charlotte, N.C. areas to customize training paths that will meet the demands of their growing PMP employee base.”

“The IT industry is quickly evolving, and Project Management is playing a key role in that transition,” said Kelly Conway, president of Cardinal Solutions. “Our industry has recognized the importance of quality Project Management and is looking for means to improve and grow the PM capabilities within the industry. The PMI R.E.P. program is recognized as the premier comprehensive continuing education program related to the field of project management, and we are pleased to be working with PMI to develop a path by the end of 2007 that will provide the full 60 PDU requirement for maintaining the PMP credential.”

To qualify as an R.E.P., Cardinal had to meet a number of key requirements and criteria. Among the criteria were:
• Must have offered project management training for at least one year;
• Must have a PMP credential holder review the content of each course submitted into the R.E.P. database
• Must show evidence of instructor qualifications appropriate to topics taught
• Must use PMP credentialed instructor to deliver PMP exam preparation courses
• Must make accurate representations of course objectives
• Must be reviewed by a designated PMI reviewer before acceptance as an R.E.P. and once every three years thereafter
