More Foodservice Distributors Join RTI to Provide Electronic Ordering to Restaurants

ATLANTA — RTI (Restaurant Technology, Inc.), a leading provider of Web-based restaurant back office systems, announces that three major foodservice distributors have recently joined forces with the software company to provide electronic ordering to restaurants using RTIconnect software.

Harvest Foods, Manning Brothers, and Pate Dawson were added last quarter as new RTI Supply Chain Partners. Their participation allows restaurants using RTIconnect to download their electronic order guides—essentially product lists—and transmit their food orders via the Internet. These partner interfaces were added at the request of RTI’s quick-service customers in the Wendy’s, and Bojangle’s franchise systems who use RTIconnect to manage their restaurants’ food cost.

Each time the distributor updates their product list, RTIconnect lets the administrator know, keeping them informed of items that are added, discontinued, repackaged in a new pack/size, and items with price changes. Keeping the restaurant’s product lists in sync with the distributor helps the manager order correctly and helps ensure that the company qualifies for any available electronic ordering discounts.

RTIconnect automatically calculates a suggested food order taking into consideration all of the factors that influence the ordering decision: forecasted sales, inventory on hand, inventory ordered but not yet delivered, and optional safety factors. The suggested order can then be modified by the restaurant manager before it is sent electronically to the foodservice distributor.

RTIconnect now interfaces with 18 major foodservice distributors.
