Florida’s Gulf Islands Present Jazz on the Islands

(PRLEAP.COM) Florida’s Gulf Islands present Jazz on the Islands, a month-long celebration on Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch. The main event is a concert at the Powel Crosley Estate on August 10 featuring the Michael Royal Quartet, Orquesta Infinidad and German jazz guitarist Nils.

Throughout August, Florida’s Gulf Islands will come alive for the inaugural Jazz on the Islands. During this month-long musical event, restaurants, outdoor cafes and bars on Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key and in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch will offer live jazz.

The main feature of this jazz celebration is a concert at the Powel Crosley Estate on August 10 with internationally-acclaimed, award-winning German jazz guitarist Nils. Nils’ 2005 smooth jazz hits, “Pacific Coast Highway” and “Summer Nights,” earned top spots on radio in the U.S. and Canada. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the high-energy jazz of the Michael Royal Quartet followed by the Latin sounds of Orquesta Infinidad. Nils will close the show. Area restaurants and bars will provide backdrops for live jazz entertainment throughout the month, including Zio’s Old World Italian in Bradenton, Ooh La La! Bistro in Holmes Beach, the Sand Bar on Anna Maria, Euphemia Haye on Longboat Key and the BeachHouse Restaurant on Bradenton Beach. Local jazz performers KoKo Ray, John Dewey, the Diane Linscott Trio, Tom Barrett’s Sophisticated Jazz, Hard Bop, and the Herb Harris Trio, among many others, will perform at the various venues. Jazzradio.net’s deejay, Leslie Nachmann, will host her live “White Room” broadcast from the Hilton Longboat Key Beach Resort August 11-13 and from the BeachHouse August 14-18.

Additionally, there will be one trolley with live jazz seven days a week from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It will run from the north end of Anna Maria to the south end of Coquina Beach. Prime Outlets at Ellenton will have live jazz in the food court each Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
