Resin on Steel: New paintings by Christo Braun Opens at Elan Gallery

August 01, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Exhibit opens with a public reception at Elan Fine Art Gallery, 427 Broad Street, Sewickley PA, September 14, 2007 6-9 PM. during the Sewickley Gallery Walk.

Inspired by nature, Braun's luminous paintings straddle the border between abstraction and representation, allowing the viewer to participate in the emotion of the image rather than its interpretation. "Painterly distillations of remembered perception and emotion," writes Dewitt Cheng of SanFranciscoArtmagazine.com, "they operate as metaphors for nature's operations: they breathe and flow."

One must stand in front of these near "holographic" images in order to appreciate them. The translucent glazes of pigmented resin on the reflective stainless steel shimmer and change as one's point of view changes. Selections from his breakout "Open Water" and "Riverwaters" series will accompany new work created since his arrival in Pittsburgh one year ago.

A recent transplant from San Francisco Christo Braun's work is collected internationally.

Continues through Nov.2 2007. Gallery Hrs: Tues-Sat 11AM-6PM
