ETM130 Serial-to-Ethernet Converter from Embin Technologies

June 06, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Embin Technologies has launched their latest Ethernet module ETM130. Embin’s ETM130 is a Serial to Ethernet Converter module with 8051. ETM130 can be used extensively to read the data over the serial port and send the data via Ethernet in the packets format.

Keeping in mind the requirement of prototyping boards and development kits which can accelerate the task of designers to run application software on target 8051 hardware and perform various applications on board, Embin launches ETM130. ETM130 is a general-purpose serial-to-Ethernet module with 8051 and can perform various networking applications.

At the heart of the board is Phillips P89C51RD2/P89C668; this provides advance features like ISP. The micro controller has 64KB flash memory and 1KB/8KB on-chip RAM. The Module board comes with RS-232 interface to allow user to program the micro controller directly from PC. ETM130 board reads the data from any Serial Port and sends to the Ethernet (LAN). ETM130 is a unique hardware and software combination providing the serial data send through the Ethernet. Hardware reference and software application programs also simplify 8051 based hardware and software development. This board is also having the facility of Software flow control and No flow control, you can select the Software flow control or no flow control option through the CONFIG menu.

SERIAL BUFFSIZE is 100bytes, so without S/W flow control we can transfer the 100bytes at a time with out data loss. The time gap between two transmissions should approximately be 3msec. TCP packet size is 140bytes.

ETM130 is much-advanced w.r.t. the Ethernet connectivity module ETM121. ETM130 has much more to offer. The Sample C code provided with the ETM130 board is self explanatory with comments that help you understand the applications related to Serial port, LCD, Real time clock etc programs.

With ETM130 Embin has added one more product to its existing range of development kits and second in line to the Ethernet module ETM121. This development kits and modules will be useful to all the engineering students and R & D engineers, embedded systems developers etc.
