Buddhist Scholar and Meditation Researcher, Dr. B. Alan Wallace, Says Skeptics Misinformed
(
PRLEAP.COM) Join host Alex Tsakiris when he interviews Dr. B. Alan Wallace about his book, The Attention Revolution: Unlocking the Power of the Focused Mind. During the 45-minute interview Dr. Wallace expresses his dismay at the way some critics approach consciousness research: “…this is what bothers me about many of the so called skeptics… what they are doing is defending the status quo which doesn’t take a whole lot of guts. They are about as skeptical as Pat Robertson or Billy Graham. They too have a congregation behind them. They all agree; they’re skeptical of other religions, they’re skeptical of materialism, and so forth. I just don’t see much difference in the skepticism of a religious fundamentalist and a hard-core, committed, scientific materialist.”
Dr. Wallace also explains how the practice of meditation and contemplation about the nature and origin of our thoughts can lead to a new understanding about the relationship between our brain and our mind.
