The fourth and final fantasy book in The Rys Chronicles epic fantasy series by Tracy Falbe was released in trade paperback on August 8th 2007. The Borderlands of Power: The Rys Chronicles Book IV finishes Falbe's tale of rebellion and conquest in which ambition challenges tyranny and visions of renaissance wither under the hot glare of vengeance.

Within this fantasy world, the rys are a magical race that dominates half of human civilization. They live for centuries and the most powerful among them rule the others. Despite their clairvoyance and mastery of energy as potent as lightning, rys are not above ensnaring human warriors and entire armies to their will. And humans derive great power and prestige from their alliances with rys.

Political intrigue along with the pure brawn of battles and duels fuel this epic fantasy that has received good reviews. After the release of the first two books in the series in 2006, the Midwest Book Review wrote that "Author Tracy Falbe makes a stunning debut in epic fantasy…"

"It's great to finally have all four books in print," Falbe said. "I've been so pleased by the response of my ebook readers to the series. You know you are doing something right when people come back and buy every book you wrote."

The Borderlands of Power: The Rys Chronicles Book IV has been available in ebook formats since April 2007, and Falbe hopes to build a readership for her series in trade paperback as she has with the ebooks.

Falbe believes that her fantasy distinguishes itself within the genre by applying fresh formulas to familiar themes. She has always been an enthusiast of fantasy but felt that she had outgrown the standard plot of an innocent young hero or heroine maturing through adventure. Her fantasy has an element of gritty realism and the characters seek greatness through a combination of ambition and desperation.

"I allow my readers to explore the sensation of fighting for good and for power through the adventure of my series," said Falbe, whose fantasy is never short on duels and battles. She appreciates the intellectual aspects of fantasy that explore social issues such as religion and patriarchy, but she admits to only being able to go so long before having a sword fight. "Readers have told me how they like the steady pace of the action," Falbe added.

The Rys Chronicles are published by Falbe Publishing of Chico, California under its fantasy imprint Brave Luck Books ™ http://www.braveluck.com. Fantasy readers are invited to begin reading The Rys Chronicles. The first book in the series, Union of Renegades, is available in its entirety as a free fantasy ebook.
