Recognition for Cumbria Family Lawyers

(PRLEAP.COM) A family lawyer at Carlisle solicitors, Burnetts has become one of only 12 specially accredited solicitors in Cumbria while one of the firm’s legal executives has become a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.

Amy Fallows, 31, is now a Resolution-accredited specialist after an external assessment of her work and a written exam. She is also signed up to Resolution’s code of conduct which promotes a non-confrontational approach in dealing with family law matters.

Legal Executive, Lynn Hutchinson was admitted as a Fellow to ILEX following five years of part time study, a final exam and a further two years’ experience in practice. Brought up in Castle Carrock, Lynn also works in Burnetts’ family law department, advising clients on divorce, separation and injunction issues as well as change of name deeds.

Lynn, 36, said, “Working full-time and studying was difficult but this was a job I wanted and doing the exams has helped me along. I don’t think anything beats practical experience - being made a Fellow recognises that experience.”

Amy lives just outside Wigton and is Chair of North Cumbria Resolution and Co-ordinator of the Cumbria Childcare Forum. She joined Burnetts in 2002 from Osbornes Solicitors in Camden Town and became a partner in January this year.

She said, “For clients, there is reassurance that I know what I’m talking about as well as the knowledge that I’m going to deal with their case in a certain way: Resolution members are committed to being civilised and non-adversarial and that approach usually means less upset for clients as well as being cheaper.”

Burnetts’ family law team, one of the largest in Cumbria, advises clients on divorce and separation as well as issues affecting children like contact or residence. In some cases, legal aid is available to help with costs.

Amy and Lynn can be contacted on 01228 552222. Further information about dealing with family law problems can be found at www.burnetts.co.uk.
