New York Marriott East Side Modernizes Hotel Accommodations on Lexington Avenue in Manhattan
August 11, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel NewsNew York, NY August 11, 2007 – The New York Marriott East Side hotel has just completed a $27 million renovation of its guest rooms, concierge lounge and fitness center that has brought high-tech and plush comfort to its modern classic hotel accommodations in midtown Manhattan. The Lexington Avenue hotel’s rich historic design has been infused with contemporary furnishings and hi-tech features for today’s traveler. All 646 rooms and suites have undergone makeovers to accommodate travelers looking for hotel accommodations in Manhattan– from those who work from their guest rooms, to “experience” travelers, who like to travel with all the entertainment comforts of home.
The guest room color palette is soft gold with rust red accents and features Marriott’s new bedding package, with duvet covers, plush pillows, and custom-designed headboards with adjustable headboard lighting. Many rooms include ergonomically designed swivel desks, chairs and consoles, with Marriott’s “Plug and Play” technology. As a true New York modern hotel, all rooms now have 32-inch High Definition TVs or signals, wireless high speed internet access, sleek single-cup coffeemakers, and mini-refrigerators. Bathrooms have been outfitted with new marble and stone vanities. Traditional hotel sliding closet doors have been replaced with natural wood, and neutral window shades create more of an at-home setting at this modern hotel on Lexington Avenue.
Unique Manhattan accommodations one won’t find elsewhere include two signature suites on the hotel’s 16th floor feature outdoor wraparound furnished terraces overlooking midtown skyscrapers. Inside, hardwood flooring, an ambient fireplace, and an adjacent sun room create the warm residential environment of a private Manhattan apartment.
The entire guest room renovation comes on the heels of a newly designed concierge lounge, also on the 16th floor, where concierge floor guests can relax, socialize and work at their leisure in a living room setting, with an outdoor terrace facing the East River.
In 2006 the hotel completed its new fitness center; 1,300 square feet of state-of-the-art cardio and weight equipment, located on the 35th floor. In this unusual space, high-tech meets historic architecture, as the latest in workout equipment inside is framed by exterior stone gargoyles from the 1920s, which contrast with a spectacular workout area in this modern hotel in Manhattan.
The New York Marriott East Side’s guest room and corridor renovation completes the new contemporary look of this architectural treasure on Manhattan’s East Side. The hotel is located at 525 Lexington Avenue at East 49th Street.
