Prison restaurants chain : dining with murderers, bank robbers, drug dealers.

(PRLEAP.COM) August 11, 2007 — In May 2007, an Italian jail started a new trend opening the doors to one of Italy’s most secure jails — where the cooks and waiters are murderers, bank robbers, drug dealers. The entertainer Bruno is serving 25 years for stabbing his girlfriend 25 times in a public square in broad daylight. The waiter Antonio is a self made man.

Francesco Vitetta, a London Business man, is going to launch the first UK service in South London (Sutton Prison). The evening costs about 45 British Pounds and the menu offers a selection of six starters, seven main courses and seven desserts with supplementary dishes. All desserts are homemade and created without additives. The food will be served with plastic cutlery.

A security check requires booking three weeks in advance. No criminal records allowed. Show an ID, hand in your cell phone and purse and go through a metal detector.

"I’m crazy? No. I hope no," Francesco said.

"I am willing to give these guys a second change learning a new profession at the same time, a bit like Olivers with his 15 program".

The Jail Restaurant will open in September 2007 only 3 days a week : Monday, Wednesday and Sunday from 6-9pm.
