Trash the Dress: How One Raleigh Photographer Captures this Post Wedding Trend?
(
PRLEAP.COM) RALEIGH NC- AUGUST 2007, Whoever said a wedding dress is just worn once hasn’t spoken to Neil Boyd, owner of Neil Boyd Photography and one of few North Carolina Photographers to join the creative bandwagon ditching the preservation box protecting a Vera Wang instead, giving it a second life.
Remember the adage, “God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt?”, well if you’re a modern gal looking to get as much use out of your white gown of love as you can, then you not only remember it, but you’re proclaiming it loudly while being photographed around the nation.
Trash the Dress, a water cooler topic on morning talk shows and an even more trafficked website, trashthedress.com (currently being updated due to heavy traffic flow), highlights this somewhat tongue in cheek trend. Brides across the nation are participating in acts that women 20 years ago would say you just don’t do in a dress, much less a wedding dress. Still, the lighthearted bride revels in the freedom and pure release of utter excitement of having these images caught by their wedding photographer.
Neil Boyd realized this trend earlier this year, “It’s not for every woman, but those who know their daughters won’t wear their dress or simply want to get the most out of it, jump on this more than I ever thought possible.”
For brides not sure of how a shoot would feel can view the blog and a short video of recent bride, Lisa King:

“The comfort I felt helped make the shoot was so incredible, the pictures were more than I thought possible,” says King of her July shoot with Neil.
“What better way is there to show a husband you won’t ever need your dress again?” writes one blogger. What a fitting statement to sum this trend up.
