QUEER FEST MIDWEST ARRIVES IN CHICAGO AUGUST 25

(PRLEAP.COM) Saturday, August 25th Queer Fest Midwest arrives! Chicago’s first ever music, visual and interactive arts festival celebrating the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community, Queer Fest Midwest will make its debut at the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse in Wicker Park. An all day event, Queer Fest Midwest aims to bring the GLBT artistic community together while also raising money for the About Face Theatre.

Musical acts will range from hip-hop to trans-hillbilly, and include national artists Katastrophe, The Ex-Members, Johnny Dangerous, Chris Garneau, Katz, Gina Young and Team Gina. In addition, there will be performances by Midwestern musicians Office, Hey There Cowboy, 8 Inch Betsy, Opportunity School and Actor Slash Model.

“The Cowboy & The Pegasus” is the name of the visual and interactive arts portion of the event, curated by Rejnowska & Polera. An exhibition of groundbreaking queercore artists whose diverse voices inspire DIY art-activists, the show highlights video artists Sadie Benning, Dylan Mira, Latham Zearfoss and Bruce La Bruce, paintings by Zack Stiglicz, Grant Schexnider and Terrance Koh, photography by Sean Fader, the creative concepts of Will Harrison and Kean O’Brien, and a confessional documentary about HIV by Charles Lum.

Queer Fest Midwest is produced by Think Pink Radio, the publishers of CHILL Magazine, with visual arts curated by Rejnowska & Polera. The festival is an all-day event with proceeds benefiting About Face Theatre. The all-ages festival will begin at noon and end at 8 p.m. Tickets for the festival are $16 in advance and $20 the day of show. Tickets are available at www.etix.com <http://www.etix.com> .
