Webb Internet Radio Presents Ongoing Barbados Crop Over 2007 Festival Highlights

(PRLEAP.COM) WHEATLEY HEIGHTS, NY August 16, 2007 - Webb Internet Radio (WIR) will present its online coverage of Barbados’ Crop Over 2007 festival. Crop Over, which celebrates the last harvest of the sugar cane crop, is an annual national festival with 18th century plantation traditions. Today, some aspects of the event are re-enacted at the Opening Gala, which typically takes place beginning early in July.

Cropover’s major events are ‘Junior Kadooment’, ‘Junior Calypso Monarch’, the ‘Pic-O-De-Crop’ calypso competition’, ‘Party Monarch Finals’, ‘Cohobblopot’, and ‘Grand Kadooment’. A number of other cultural events and features were added to this year’s Barbados press agenda such as the George Washington House and Museum and the Concorde Experience exhibition.

Ken “Spider” Webb began is on-air broadcasting career in July 1971, becoming the very first morning man for New York City’s WBLS-FM. By 1983, he had raised WBLS’ morning ratings to #1. Over the years, Ken has worked on WRKS-FM, WLIB-AM, WQCD-FM, and WWRL-AM. Currently, he can be heard on Sirius Satellite Radio’s “Soul Town” Channel 53, Monday-Friday 6AM-12PM ET).
