URBANA CITYSPA, A CHARLOTTE MASSAGE SPA NAMES SPA DIRECTOR

(PRLEAP.COM) Urbàna Cityspa & Teabar has named Charlotte native Paul Nunez its spa director. Nunez will work to develop and train staff in Charlotte’s Urbàna prototype at Carmel Road and Highway 51 and will assist in expansion of the Urbàna concept. The massage-only spa that opened in April 2006 offers an international mix of massage in a lounge-type environment, along with a full-service teabar that serves and sells 80 premium teas from around the world.

Nunez began his career in Charlotte as a massage therapist and was named best massage therapist for two consecutive years by Charlotte’s Creative Loafing. After joining Aveda in 2001, he advised more than 40 spas in the U.S. and Canada. In 2006, Nunez became Director of the Aveda Institute Spa in St. Petersburg, Florida. He has also worked as a private spa consultant.

Owner Nancy Goodwin says that Nunez will be instrumental in developing the overall Urbàna experience in Charlotte and beyond. “Paul’s background as both an award-winning therapist and a national educator will allow us to further refine a well-received concept and to expand it. We’re thrilled to have attracted him back to Charlotte to become an important part of our team.”

Nunez has welcomed the chance to return to his home town. “Urbàna is a great opportunity,” he says, “to help build a national brand. Therapeutic massage and restorative teas have so many benefits that can bring balance into the lives of busy, stressed people, and that’s a huge market. I hope to make many people aware that Urbàna is a true respite.”
