Emerging Pizza Concept in Louisville, CO

Louisville, CO – August 22, 2007 – Ted and Cyndi Dorr wanted to change pizza delivery. Thus May 2007 saw the birth of the ‘Dorr to Door’ concept and Double D’s Sourdough Pizza. Over the course of the last 20 years the couple has turned poorly operated pizza franchises into profitable successful stores. Now with a firm business plan in tote they can offer the unforgettable taste of their sourdough recipe to Louisville residents.

The trend for sourdough pizza emanates from the Bay area and marches east. According to the American Institute of Baking this form of dough making takes space, time and a lot of attention to detail, something the Dorr’s have dedicated themselves to perfecting. Dorr & his wife personally operate the gourmet pizzeria along with a staff of 17 other persons. The pizzeria offers free delivery, carry-out & limited seating with emphasis on ‘service on the double’. Not a stretch, since Dorr has held the Fastest Pizza Maker title from Domino’s Pizza for the past 15 years in a row.

In preparation for the opening Dorr has spent months completing a $75,000 renovation project in the leased property located at 1148 West Dillon Road, next to Colony Square Theatre. Dorr’s commitment to the community is shown by incorporating locally owned Espos’ all-natural artisan products into his dessert menu. “I just want to reach out to a new business in town to say what a wonderful service you are already providing…We make such a fuss over your pizzas that we just wanted you to know how much we sincerely love the great taste and the originality of the flavors.” - Brad Hughes, State Farm. Such customer response has Dorr searching for a second location. Future plans include service to the entire Denver Metro area, online ordering and franchising the unique sourdough niche.

Dorr’s experience in the $30 billion pizza industry prods him to add, “We believe that people are tired of ordinary pizza and service so now they have “extraordinary gourmet pizza and on the double service.” His menu features a wide range of adult tastes. Beyond the sourdough bread, made fresh from scratch daily, ribs are hickory smoked for 16 hours, lean cut meats seasoned with fresh all natural spices. Grilled chicken breast, smoked provolone cheese and Canadian bacon have quickly made the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza a family favorite. Dorr empathically states, “Our gourmet chunky pizza sauce is made from fresh red-ripe tomatoes, extra-virgin olive oil, fresh garlic and herbs”.
