London, 25 August 2007: Exterity, a specialist in network IPTV, has today announced the availability of its new TriplePlay receiver. Known as the idaptor TriplePlay receiver, the new compact device will deliver and receive internet, TV and telephony to any end point across a local area network. The idaptor is ideal for hotels, schools and colleges and large corporates that want to connect existing TVs and displays to their network infrastructure to deliver TriplePlay services. The product is available immediately from Exterity partners.

The idaptor can be connected to any end point and instantly turns it into a multi-media centre that enables access to the web, IPTV, radio, video on demand and IP telephony, which makes it a cost effective way to expand a network infrastructure without additional cabling. Its’ simple plug and play set up ensures that the device can automatically pick-up and learn the available IPTV channels, which simplifies deployment. The box comes fully-loaded with a customisable channel selection interface, splashscreen, and support of HTML-based digital signage, enabling personalisation and easy content management. It also comes supplied with securing brackets which allows it to be easily secured and concealed minimising the risk of tampering or theft.

“The idapter offers significant savings on infrastructure investment and simplifies the delivery of digital TV, radio, video, telephony and internet access by providing access to all of these services via just one box,” said Colin Farquhar, CEO Exterity. “Implementation costs are minimised, as only one solution is required and outlay is further reduced by the ability to reuse existing TVs and displays.”
The idapter is ideally suited to a range of industry sectors, offering the following benefits:
• Hospitality: To improve the variety and quality of channels delivered to hotel guest rooms, hospital bedsides and other hospitality environments, as well as providing connections for internet access and IP telephony.
• Corporate: To channel content to a display to any point on the network to access corporate broadcasts, training content, and other news and information channels
• Education: To enhance the student learning environment with access to education content and local and international TV across a campus
• Public information: To provide entertainment, advertising and information in public areas such as airports and exhibition halls

The idapter TriplePlay receiver is able to decode both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video stream to composite, S-video, RGB or component video output.
