Atlanta (August 25, 2007) – The Fulton County Chapter of the UGA Alumni Association will hold its official Kick-off on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the Buckhead Locos Grill & Pub starting at 7:00 p.m. Though the officers of the Fulton County Chapter have been active in the Atlanta community since January, the Kick-off marks the official launch of the new UGA Alumni chapter.

“With the largest UGA base in the U.S., Fulton County is truly the heart of the Bulldog Nation,” said Amy Hokkanen, President of the Fulton County Chapter and UGA class of 1995. “We have been working for almost a year to get this chapter up and running. Now it is time to celebrate our hard work and we want to invite all UGA alumni to come join us.”

The event, which is free for all who attend, will feature food and drink specials along with plenty of prizes/giveaways. 680 The Fan will be on site starting at 6:00 p.m. and an old Athens favorite, Jay Memory, will play at 8:30 p.m. The event also provides a chance for UGA alumni to mingle, meet the Fulton County Chapter officers and give suggestions for future events.

“As a UGA grad and Atlanta resident, I am very excited about hosting this and future UGA Fulton County Alumni events,” said Brad Koontz, owner of the Buckhead Locos Grill & Pub and UGA Class of 1995. “We are already a popular hangout for UGA fans, so teaming with the chapter made sense.”

The Fulton County Chapter was recognized as “2006 Most Improved Chapter” by the UGA Alumni Association.
