Providence Dominican URI Student wins Miss RI Latina Contest - Will represent in Miss Latina US Pageant

(PRLEAP.COM) (Providence, Rhode Island, USA) Sasha Zacarias, an eighteen year old Providence resident of Dominican ancestry won the title of Miss Rhode Island Latina yesterday during the 22nd annual contest in front of a packed house at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston on Sunday.

One of 8 serious contestants for the title during the 5 hour pageant, Sasha was selected by a judicial panel including state officials like RI Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, and noted Italian-American entrepreneur, Gianfranco Marrocco owner of Mediterraneo Restaurant, Dolce Vita Café and Dolce Vita hotel on historic Federal Hill in Providence.

Fluent in both Spanish and English, Sasha is now entering her second year of studies at the University of Rhode Island and is a long time Providence resident and graduate of the Providence Public School System.

Sasha’s adopted father, Wilbur W. Jennings Jr. is a former Providence Public Works employee and chairman of the 8th Ward Democratic City Committee. He currently works for Herb Chambers Honda in Seekonk, Mass. Sasha’s Mother, Aridia Jennings is a teacher’s assistant in the Providence Public School System.

Sasha will go on to represent Rhode Island in the Miss Latina US pageant next year.
