Big event crowds waste less water

Coates is spreading the message to crowds at big events across Australia about a new way to save water.

Coates hires out portable toilets blocks for major sporting and other events across Australia, events which often draw tens of thousands of people. All recent additions to the company’s fleet of portable toilet blocks use Uridan water-free urinals – urinals which work without flushing.

Each toilet block incorporates several of these urinals. The urinals use an innovative water lock which enables them to work hygienically and odour-free without being flushed.

The water-free urinals are supplied by Watersave Australia Pty Ltd for Coates’ fleet of portable toilet blocks.

Watersave Australia has been supplying water-free urinals to Coates since 2004.

Coates have project managed the portable buildings and amenities for some of the largest events ever undertaken in Australia.

Coates supplies toilet blocks for major sporting events like the Indy speed-car races at Surfers Paradise in Queensland, Phillip Island World Superbike motorcycle races in Victoria and other major events like the 75th Anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge this year and Australia Day and New Years Eve celebrations.

The Group Events Manager of Coates, John Gerard, says, “Uridan urinals have proven to be an efficient and economical component of Coates toilet blocks. By hiring out water-saving equipment like this, we are assisting the nations quest to save water where we can.

“Whenever we develop a new branch or regional head office we ensure that Uridan water-free urinals are installed there. A recent example is our new major maintenance facility and NSW administration office at Moorebank.

A director of Watersave Australia, Paul Marsh, says, “Coates is one of our clients who promote corporate responsibility and environment sustainability by using our water-saving products.

“We are proud of our association with Coates and we believe they are the largest single user of water-free urinals in Australia, having hundreds of them in their fleet of portable toilet blocks.

“The company sets a good example for industry and the general community in a land which for many years has had more than a fair share of droughts and water restrictions.”
