Toronto, ON – Sept 6, 2007 – National Women's Health and Fitness Day is a nation wide event promoting health awareness and regular physical activity for women of all ages across the United States. An estimated 40,000 to 50,000 women are expected to participate in various health and fitness events.

Margot McKinnon and the instructors at Body Harmonics Pilates are recognizing National Women’s Fitness Day, and are bringing it to Canada by offering an array of classes which promote and acknowledge women’s health issues. From Fit Pregnancy, a small group class that combines Pilates Reformer machines and specially tailored mat exercises that reflect the changing postural and physiological needs throughout pregnancy, to Strong Bones!, a program tailored to the needs of woman facing bone density issues. This class has been specially designed to help women maintain and build bone density. Exercises have been modified and include movements that are clinically proven to build bone density. Body Harmonics moves you to new level focusing on quality rather than quantity – effectively using movement and body mechanics to strengthen core muscles and increase flexibility.

“By celebrating this day, we are helping to promote health-related programs and services provided for women searching for healthful lifestyle habits that are meaningful and enjoyable,” says Margot McKinnon, owner and director of programming at Body Harmonics Pilates. “As a team of instructors we are committed to helping women cultivate heightened awareness of their bodies and become intuitive to the benefits of even the most subtle of movements. Making movement meaningful is our mandate!"
Body Harmonics in correlation with National Women's Health and Fitness Day’s main goal is to encourage women of all ages to take control of their health. Through education, positive health choices and regular physical activity, this special day also provides women with the opportunity to nurture their mind, body and soul.
