Ethereal Home Theater Cuts a New Edge with the DPL™ Program

HOLLY HILL, FLA.: Ethereal Home Theater announces its participation in the Digital Performance Level™ (DPL™) Program – the industry’s first and only viable rating system for HDMI cables.

The DPL Program ranks HDMI cables on a scale of 1 to 5 based on all known electrical characteristics. This rating criterion quantifies what is required to orchestrate all of the cable’s electrical factors to deliver maximum HDMI performance. Ratings are on a scale of 5 to 1, with 5 indicating the best.

For the first time since the introduction of High-Definition technology, consumers can easily select the HDMI products that best meet their needs for performance and price – without having to be an engineer to interpret technical specifications. And professional installers will have the information to determine how a particular HDMI cable will perform under the conditions of the installation project without resorting to guesswork.

Ethereal Home Theater submits all of its HDMI cables to the rigorous DPL testing process for assurance that every Ethereal Home Theater product performs to the highest standards of HDMI technology.

The DPL ranking system was spearheaded by Jeff Boccaccio, Principal of In-Visions Technology. Based in Ormond Beach, Fla., In-Visions Technology is a leading HDMI consulting firm specializing in developing HDMI technologies and products for consumer electronics manufacturers.

The significance of the DPL ranking system in furthering the acceptance and use of HDMI technology in the marketplace is profound. Advantages of widespread adaptation by manufactures include greatly reducing the time pro installers spend troubleshooting connection issues, and establishing a common criteria easily understood by everyone who purchases HDMI cable.

Said Boccaccio in a recent interview for CEPro magazine: “Many vendors punt when it comes to the actual performance of their HDMI cables and accessories. They claim a cable meets certain specifications, but they cannot supply proof. What specifications are they using? Why do vendors have so much trouble quantifying how their cables will perform? Now we’ll have a way to know.”
