Reinhardt College recently held an "A DAY for Reinhardt" event to celebrate the success of the 2006 campaign and to launch the 2007 campaign. A DAY is an annual effort to provide support for Cherokee County students attending the College.

Approximately 60 Cherokee County leaders and Reinhardt College officials attended a recent gathering to celebrate the success of the College’s 2006 “A DAY for Reinhardt” campaign and to launch the 2007 campaign. The event took place in Featherstone’s at BridgeMill in Canton, Ga.

“This event was to thank community leaders, donors, volunteers and Reinhardt faculty for their dedication and support of last year’s campaign and to show the College’s appreciation for everyone’s continued support this year,” said Barbara L. Manous, Reinhardt’s director of fund raising and church relations. “A total of $134,115 was raised in 2006, and it is hoped that this will be exceeded in 2007.”

Among the many enthusiastic community leaders and dignitaries were the following 2007 A DAY volunteers: Reinhardt alumnus and Tri-State Communications, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Randy Gravley; Northside Hospital-Cherokee CEO Billy Hayes; and Cherokee Bank President and CEO Dennis Burnette. Gravley is A DAY’s 2007 chairman while Hayes is vice chairman. Burnette chaired the successful 2006 campaign.

Created in 1988, the A DAY for Reinhardt campaign is an annual effort to provide support for Cherokee County students attending the College. A DAY helps to fund Reinhardt’s Cherokee County Grant program. This grant gives eligible students the opportunity to receive as much as $8,000 during their four years at the College. Since A DAY’s inception, more than $1.5 million in Cherokee County Grants have been awarded to deserving local students.

As part of the annual campaign, volunteers are currently soliciting gifts and pledges from local businesses and individuals as the actual A DAY – Oct. 4, 2007 – approaches.
