Online arcade site to drop advertisers. Will gamers appreciate?

(PRLEAP.COM) FreeOwnage.com has announced its intent to stop running advertising on its website. FreeOwnage.com has stated that it shall once again make its website an advert free zone. The on line flash arcade and free on line games site has long since been popular with gamers who wish to pass some time on their favorite on line games without the interruption of advertisements and pop ups. In the past FreeOwnage.com has never had such annoyances but has still served text based advertisements in the form of banners found at the top, bottom and left of the page, but it has since determined that all of these adverts are to disappear effective immediately.

FreeOwnage.com was first launched in the fall of 2005 with the desire of catering to those gamers which have no desire to download or purchase games. Instead preferring to play flash games on line in their browser from any computer which is connected to the Internet. It achieved a respectable degree of success due to its policies of putting the user experience first and due to word of mouth its popularity increased. Currently on its average day, it attracts a few thousand gamers and indeed has in excess of 300 members.

Eric Wilson, the founder of the site has stated that due to generous donations and support from the gaming community who frequent the website, it is now self sufficient and will not depend on advertisement revenue for its maintenance in the present or in the immediate future. Mr Wilson also stated that he hopes the rest of the industry follows and remembers that with such websites the experience of the gamer should be put first rather than loading the websites with advertisements in the hope of increasing revenue.
