Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (AGLCC) Selected as National Chamber of the Year

The Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (AGLCC) was selected as the 2007 National Chamber of the Year by the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). The Atlanta organization was chosen from among nearly fifty throughout the nation, and the selection team cited the value delivered to membership as the chief reason for honoring the Southern group.

“This is such an exciting time for AGLCC as we are recognized on a national level for the huge growth we’ve had in the past three years as well as our ongoing efforts of not only supporting our members, but working in Atlanta and surrounding LGBT community,” says Carla Corley, president of the AGLCC. “We are so proud of all of our board members, volunteers and members who have helped us reach this huge milestone.”.

“The AGLCC has consistently demonstrated a commitment to driving value back to the AGLCC membership and to working with NGLCC,” said Justin Nelson and Chance Mitchell, co-founders of the NGLCC. “[The organization’s] continued excellence and dedication to Atlanta’s LGBT community is to be commended, as is the group’s commitment to the LGBT business equality movement.”

The National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) based out of Washington DC, includes a network of more than 45 chambers and business organizations and nine international organizations It is the largest business development and economic advocacy organization in the world.

AGLCC board members received the honor at the NGLCC International Business and Leadership Conference held in Miami in May and have been invited to the NGLCC’s National Dinner in Washington, DC to be held in November.

As a celebration throughout the remainder of 2007, AGLCC will have a special event each month so the organization can share the honor with its membership and the Atlanta LGBT community. Events include a boat outing at Lake Lanier in August as well as a casino night celebration in September. October will feature a community business and career expo.
