To compile the nominees, researchers surveyed approximately 70,000 lawyers in Texas, asking them to nominate the best attorneys they have personally observed in action. Nominees were grouped into more than 60 practice areas, and a blue-ribbon panel then reviewed the nominees. In the end, fewer than five percent of lawyers in Texas received the honor.
