Thompson & Knight Expands Trial Practice with White Collar Crime Experts

The international law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Michael McCrum and Marina Garcia Marmolejo have joined the Firm as Of Counsel in the Trial Practice Group in the Firm’s Austin office. Collectively, they bring more than 30 years of legal experience to Thompson & Knight.

Michael McCrum

McCrum focuses his practice primarily in the area of complex matters of criminal defense. This includes the representation of persons and companies who have been charged in federal and state court and those under investigation by federal grand juries and federal authorities. He handles matters primarily in San Antonio, throughout Texas, and across the U.S.

McCrum previously served as a Police Officer for the Arlington Police Department from 1978-1979 and Dallas Police Department from 1980-1982. He was a Federal Prosecutor in the General Drug Unit for the U.S. Attorney’s Office from 1989-1992. McCrum served as Chief of the General Drug Unit and Chief of the Major Crimes Unit for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, San Antonio Division, from 1992-2000. He has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America from 2006-2007 and one of the Best Lawyers in San Antonio from 2005-2007. He was also named a “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly and listed in the Who’s Who Among Metropolitan Executives in 2007.

Marina Garcia Marmolejo

Marmolejo focuses her practice on trial and dispute resolution, primarily in the area of white collar criminal defense. Her practice includes the representation of persons and companies who have been charged in federal and state court and those under investigation by federal grand juries or federal authorities. She is an experienced trial attorney who has tried more than 30 cases in federal court.

Marmolejo previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Laredo, Texas from 1999-2007. She was an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Laredo, Texas from 1998-1999 and Del Rio, Texas from 1996-1998. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work as a prosecutor, including the most prestigious award bestowed by the Department of Justice, the Attorney General’s Director’s Award. She was also recruited by the Department of Justice’s OPDAT (Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training) program to teach trial advocacy skills to foreign prosecutors and agents in Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
