Applications Being Accepted for Free Partners in Policymaking™ 2008 Course

(PRLEAP.COM) Partners in Policymaking™ is a leadership training program designed for adults with disabilities and parents of young children with developmental disabilities. The program teaches leadership skills, and how to develop positive partnerships with elected officials and other individuals who make the policy decisions about services whose families who have someone with a developmental disability use.

The eight-month program will teach participants about systems change.

“Participants will work towards and achieve a vision of shared values about people with disabilities. The people who need and use these services make the most effective and enduring public policy decisions by engaging with elected officials and their policymakers,” says Deborah Whitfield, of NC Partners in Policymaking.

The deadline for people to take the Partners in Policymaking™ course is October 13. The course is free to the people who are selected from the applications received.

The course will be held at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel, 421 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC. Each session begins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday and concludes by 3:30 pm on Sunday. People from all parts of North Carolina are encouraged to participate.
