Woman Launches Some Like it Vintage.com After Overcoming Severe Domestic Abuse

(PRLEAP.COM) Vintage by default is eco-friendly as it is used clothing. Helping the environment, vintage clothing is a recycling process using little or no energy resources. Where possible, bio-degradable products are also incorporated into cleaning procedures.

In 2007, Some Like it Vintage expanded into a private line of clothing simply called ‘Creative Vintage’. Re-designing and re-constructing vintage garments extends them a second life. Putting an urban and modern feel to a vintage garment while maintaining its history is another way to reduce waste.

Items are carefully chosen to incorporate function, practicality, wearability — and of course high style. The quality of vintage clothing often surpasses anything made today and not only is it environmentally friendly, it is a fun and unique way to shop.

Helping to educate and stop domestic violence against women and their children, 10% of all sales are donated to local women’s shelters . 1 in 3 women at some point in their lives, will be abused by someone they know. Women in all positions of life are abused and yet most are too embarassed or fightened to speak about it.

Owner Veronica Cizmar has courageously recovered from a severe abusive relationship with her former fiancé. Held hostage by him for 18 months, he is now serving an 11 year sentence. Since launching in 2006, Ms. Cizmar currently fills her time with running Some Like it Vintage.com, donating to women’s shelters and studying martial arts.

Upcoming events at Some Like it Vintage include free shipping days November 17-18th, another $500 shopping spree contest October 15-November 15, and participation in the winter Clothing Show held in Toronto during December.
