Forget Orange, Have a Green Halloween and Bonfire Night!

(PRLEAP.COM) Autumn has definitely arrived, which reminds us of some seasonal celebrations just around the corner. Halloween is at the end of the month followed closely by Bonfire Night, and UK Energy Saving have been thinking about how these fun events can be more eco-friendly this year.

Hayley Jones, Web Marketing Director for http://www.uk-energy-saving.com, made the following comments. “Halloween and Bonfire Night are fun occasions enjoyed by young and old alike. But, as with most large-scale celebrations, they can have a negative environmental impact, which is why the UK Energy Saving team has updated their Energy Watch page with a few suggestions for keeping it green, with a bit of orange thrown in, this year!”

The overall theme of the UK Energy Saving Halloween tips is to reduce waste, whether it be by making costumes and party food or buying reusable decorations. None if this will reduce the fun to be had but will make a significant difference to the waste often associated with events such as these. With regards to bonfire night, the key to being greener is to keep fires to a minimum as the smoke is the most serious environmental issue. “Attend a community event or think of alternatives to a large bonfire and bear in mind that fireworks are much more environmentally friendly than a fire and are often the best bit of the evening anyway!” suggests Hayley Jones.
